What is Engineered Wood Flooring

If you are wondering what is engineered wood flooring, then keep on reading.

This type of flooring is man-made. A number of layers of ply are glued, then they are heat pressed together forming the core with a hardwood layer (the lamella).

They are bonded to the top surface of the core to form a plank. In order to ensure the core remains strong, these layers run in opposite directions alternately. This makes it more stable than solid wood flooring and also less susceptible to swelling or shrinking caused by temperature change or humidity.

The top layer is thicker and is called the lamella. It is made from solid wood. The thickness of lamella ranges from 2.5mm to 6mm.
