Sonic gold underlay is a high performance acoustic underlay, suitable for use with solid wood, engineered wood and laminate floors. It is lightweight, easy to fit and the fact that it has a low thermal resistance (TOG rating: 0.9), makes it also ideal for use with underfloor heating systems.
It is produced from high density polyethylene foam, a 100% recyclable material which is CFC and HCFC free and has a gold foil attached with a 200mm overlap for secure joint sealing. More specifically, the gold foil which acts as a damp proof membrane will not only stop any damp from getting into your new flooring, but will also prevent moisture rising in the underlay through the joints.
What makes sonic gold underlay extremely popular, is its excellent impact sound reduction of 23db. With this product you can be confident that any sound produced by footfalls or falling objects, will not be transmitted from an upper floor to the floor below. In addition to that, its 5mm thickness provides outstanding cushion support, making the floor softer and more comfortable to walk on.
